Iroquois Pliskin serves in the Navy SEALs as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. He doesn't seem a normal Lieutenant, as SEAL officers give orders via the command post with the headphones which he wears. Pliskin knows a large amount about FOXHOUND, Dead Cell, and Olga's mercenary army. Pliskin also uses the Marines and SAS slogans: "Semper Fi" and "Who Dares, Wins", respectively.
When Pliskin left Stillman and Raiden to begin his bomb disposal of Shell 2, the former immediately figures that Pliskin is no SEAL due to the headphones and use of other military organization mottos. Raiden asks if Pliskin is one of the terrorists to Stillman, who replies that for some reason, he doesn't think so.
His prediction would come true since Pliskin is actually Snake in disguise though never saw it happen due to his untimely death by Fatman. Pliskin's name may be a reference of Plissken from the film, Escape from New York whose nickname is "Snake". The Snake characters of the game are based on Plissken, so says creator, Hideo Kojima in an interview.
