Philanthropy

Philanthropy is an anti-Metal Gear group started by Otacon and Solid Snake as a response to the abundance of Metal Gear REX derivatives being developed after the Shadow Moses Incident. The group used to be recognized by the UN, or in the words of Snake: "recognized, but still fringe." However after The Tanker Incident, it's most likely they went straight off the fringe, as they were framed as an eco-terrorist group.

Nastasha Romanenko donated a large amount of the profit from her book "In the Darkness of Shadow Moses: The Unofficial Truth" to Philanthropy's cause. The group mainly waited until information was leaked about Metal Gears and then go and destroy/put a stop to their development.

After The Manhattan Incident the group focused on anti-Patriots activity. It was then that the age of the War Economy came to light. As Snake began suffering from supposed Werner Syndrome, aging at an accelerated rate, Philanthropy were hired by Roy Campbell to take down Liquid Ocelot. Liquid was the head of the gigantic PMC mother company known as Outer Heaven and was planning an insurrection against the Patriots. This was to be their final mission.

After the group succeeded in taking Liquid Ocelot down, Snake decided to live his final days in solitude, with Otacon insisting he stayed with him and act as a "witness" to his final days.
